I think it changed his life because if he had never been sick he wouldn't have went to the west. His health was getting really bad so he had to hurry if he wanted to see the life in the wild west. When he made that one hat just one time somebody bought it from him then, he wanted to start making that kind of hat and before you know it, it was the most popular hat in the whole west.
How his sickness changed his life I can answer that. How hess sickness changed his life is he wanted to go west. but he might of died because of the bad air so he went so he could see it before he did. and win he went to the west the air there cured him and he lived. and win he got there he got the idea to make a new hat type and sold the type of hat to the people in the west. and that is why it changed his life.
John Stetson's poor health changed his life because if he wasn't sick with Tuberculosis he wouldn't have went to the west. Because it said in the story that if he wanted to go to the west he couldn't wait because if he did wait he would have died. Plus if he died he would never have got the 5 dollar gold piece for the hat that he made. But since he went to the west the air was dry so he hardly ever coughed and it made his Tuberculosis go away. Also it made his legs strong!!
John Stetson got sick of a disease named tuberculosis. He went to the west on his way he found some men who were going to the west in golden hills. They say to go with them they are going to find gold. John Stetson said yes. When they got there they went right to work. After a few days John found a little the sun was blistering his eyes he made a hat that was what he could do best. A cowboy came by and offered a five dollar piece coin for the hat. Then he decided to go back to Philadelphia to do the one thing he new how to do make hats.
It changed his life beaus if hi did not get it it would take longer to get to the west he might of never went to Colorado and then he would never got the five$ and he would never got to build a hat shop to build that hat and if he did not get sick he would of never done any of those things.:)

Currently I teach 4th grade, I am the mother of 2 kids: my hero, a son who served 2 tours of duty in Iraq as a U.S. Marine and a awesome daughter in middle school.
