I know that Grandpa Joe is a reasonable man because he uses his childhood to make a point. Jamal fights over the BACK of the bus. When Grandpa Joe was younger African Americans HAD to sit at the back of the bus. They didn't have a choice. That is why he is a reasonable man.
Well he tells Jamal about Rosa Parks and about the boycotts and Dr.King. Now Jamal knows not to fight because of what Dr.King said and his dad and grandpa.
I think that he is a reasonable man because he tells how when he was young African Americans can't do all rights that white can. A woman named Rose Parks got arrested for not giving her seat to the white man. After people found out what happened they stopped riding the bus. They need to change the laws they were unfair. He also gives him the courage to keep going and not fight.

Grandpa Joe is still reasonable because there are more important things tat what he was fighting about. They were fighting about a seat in the bus and that is a stupid thing to fight about. It is not something that you should get in a fight about. If you do you get in trouble for it you feel bad because you know that it is not a big deal I mean it was only a back seat. To fight about that and than get in trouble for it makes you feel pretty stupid and embarrassed and no body likes to feel that way.
I think he is a reasonable man because he told Jamal not to fight over such a silly thing as the back of the bus. He also told him to be great full that he even gets to ride the bus.
I think that Grandpa Joe is a reasonable man because when he was talking to Jamal he was telling him all about Martin Luther King Jr. Also He told him about Rosa Parks and she wouldn't give up her seat on the bus. He told him about them because he was disappointed that Jamal would fight about something like that.
Currently I teach 4th grade, I am the mother of 2 kids: my hero, a son who served 2 tours of duty in Iraq as a U.S. Marine and a awesome daughter in middle school.

I think Grandpa Joe is a reasonable man. He tells Jamal that the play is a good idea. He also does get mad, but that only teaches Jamal a lesson.
